Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania will spend a second night in hospital following his fall at Hexham yesterday.

Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania will spend another night in hospital in order to undergo further scans.

Mania was airlifted to hospital yesterday after a fall at Hexham, just a day after winning the National with 66-1 underdog Auroras Encore.

The 23-year-old had been hopeful of being discharged today, but his agent Bruce Jeffrey has now revealed that he will be staying for another night at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

"Ryan Mania will be staying for a second night at the Royal Victoria Infirmary," Jeffrey said in a statement.

"The 23-year-old Grand National winner is waiting for a final MRI scan to give him the all-clear and allow him to return home. It is expected he will have the scan tomorrow and then leave the hospital."

Meanwhile, Mania has thanked his well-wishers for their concern over his health.

"I'd like to thank all my friends, family and everyone who has given me support since my accident. I feel okay and I'm really looking forward to being able to leave the hospital and get back to normal life," he said.

Mania was riding Stagecoach Jaspar in the St John Lee Handicap when the fall happened.
