Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed that his wife Geraldine is continuing to fight cancer.
The Northern Irishman resigned as manager from Celtic in 2005 to care for his other half, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He unveiled the new treatment unit for those undergoing chemotherapy at Sunderland's Royal Hospital today.
"She is still fighting on," The Express quotes O'Neill as saying. "She has real spirit. In fact, she fights with me every single day and she always wins. When you speak to people like I have today, it makes you realise what's important in life."
The Black Cats will go up against Fulham at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League on Saturday.
