Two second-half tries from Peter Stringer helped Bath to a 16-6 victory in their LV= Cup tie against Exeter Chiefs this afternoon.
A cagey opening 40 minutes saw the sides head in level at half time, with two penalties for each team, and few other scoring opportunities.
Stringer came off the bench for the home side at the end of the first half for his Bath debut.
Bath started brightly after the break, with Stringer scoring his opening try as the home side drove over the line from a lineout, before adding another six minutes later.
The visitors ended the game strongly as they looked to eat into Bath's 10-point lead, but strong defending from the hosts allowed them to hold on for the win.
