Jack Robinson has backed Sam Burgess to become the greatest cross-code player in the sport's history.
The 25-year-old, who rounded off his rugby league career by helping South Sydney Rabbitohs to win the NRL Grand Final last weekend, will now link up with Aviva Premiership side Bath Rugby.
However, a fractured cheekbone and eye socket sustained in the victory over Canterbury Bulldogs means that Burgess will now have to wait several weeks before returning to fitness.
"Sam has some targets to hit and he wants to get into the England team," Robinson is quoted as saying by The Express. "Well, it took me three months to play for England and onto a Lions tour after moving from rugby league, so I think it can be done.
"The injury will actually give Sam a little more time to settle in at Bath but he's a confident player and the way he finished with Souths at the weekend was a testament to his awesome ability. I'm sure he will do exceptionally well at Bath and will want to make his mark straight away, so I wouldn't want to be the first person who bumps into him on the field because he carries the ball with such venom.
"He's already got the title as the best player in rugby league and has all the ingredients to do the same in rugby union. I lose track at times which code Sonny Bill Williams is playing, but I certainly think Sam can be the best-ever cross-code player."
Burgess has been capped 13 times by England's rugby league side.
