Scott Quinnell worried by British and Irish Lions' lineout

Scott Quinnell says that he is concerned by the British and Irish Lions' form in the lineout with just 10 days to go before their opening Test with Australia.

Former Wales international Scott Quinnell has expressed his concerns with the British and Irish Lions' lineout ahead of the Test series with Australia.

The tourists scored 10 tries as they romped to a 64-0 triumph over Combined Country in Newcastle on Tuesday, but committed several second-half errors that included a number of handling faults.

Quinnell, who was present when the Lions lost 2-1 to the Wallabies in 2001, feels that head coach Warren Gatland needs to field his strongest XV before they face the Aussies.

"It's the one thing that does worry me," said Quinnell. "You have got to nail a side down and lineouts come from your hookers, your back-row, your second-rows.

"It comes from team unity, it doesn't come from a different hooker, a different back-row and a different second-row. It comes from playing together and understanding those relationships and responsibilities, where you go to next.

"We have not seen that at the moment and it doesn't look we are going to see it on Saturday so, when it comes to the first Test, this lineout, those little key areas that you need to beat Australia come under the microscope."

The first Test between the Lions and Australia takes place on June 22.
