Eddie Jones doubts whether Ireland can handle "physical" England

England head coach Eddie Jones questions whether Ireland will be able to handle his team's 'physicality' during their Six Nations clash on Saturday.

Head coach Eddie Jones has backed England's 'physicality' to be too much for Ireland in their Six Nations clash on Saturday evening.

The two rivals square off at Twickenham with Ireland holding a narrow advantage over their hosts in the table with two matches remaining.

However, Jones has talked up the qualities of his squad, who he feels have the capabilities to put on a dominant performance in London.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Jones said: "Ireland haven't played against a team like us before. They haven't played against South Africa since 2017. We played with a physicality they haven't seen before. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do on Saturday.

"Whenever you play Ireland, the breakdown is a significant part of the game. They pride themselves on that area, but we are a very physical team and they haven't played against a side as physical as us for a long time. We played against South Africa last year and did well in those physical stakes so we intend to really take it to them."

While England have won four of their last five meetings between the two nations, Ireland won the most recent encounter in Dublin 12 months ago.
