Northampton Saints overcame a dogged performance from Gloucester to take a 26-7 win in the LV= Cup this afternoon.
A fairly even first half saw a try for each half in the opening 40 minutes, but early mistakes from Gloucester allowed Saints a couple of penalties, giving the visitors a six-point lead.
Stephen Myler helped Northampton build on their advantage in the second half, adding another two penalties, before Alex Waller took the ball over the line to take the home side out of sight.
Gloucester were unable to maintain their performance from the first half, spending most of the second period defending against the hosts.
The win keeps Saints at the top of pool four.
