Ireland score six tries in the second half on their way to thrashing Georgia 49-7 in their Autumn International at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland ran in six second-half tries to thrash Georgia 49-7 in Sunday afternoon's Autumn International at the Aviva Stadium.

The hosts were first to get points on board when a Georgian tackler was penalised for not rolling away from a ruck three minutes in.

This gave Ian Madigan a chance to put Ireland ahead from inside the Georgia half, and the 25-year-old made no mistake with his penalty.

Just four minutes later, another Georgian slip up led to a second penalty, which Madigan kicked over from right in front of the posts.

The visitors then held their colour for the remainder of the second half, but they were penalised in overtime for not releasing, and Madigan duly kicked over again to put Ireland 9-0 up at the break.

Three minutes after the restart, Ireland scored the first try of the game when the ball fell near the posts following a ruck, with Dave Kilcoyne timing his charge well and barging over.

Richardt Strauss was next to dive over following a swift breakaway from a maul, and once again, Madigan was accurate with his kicking.

Though Georgia clawed back some points when Giorgi Nemsadze scored a try just before the hour mark, the hosts responded with a devastating spell, racking up four tries in the final 20 minutes of the match.

Simon Zebo, Felix Jones and Stuart Olding all crossed the line, with Madigan adding points with his boot to secure a devastating victory for Ireland.
