Steve Hansen says that New Zealand's loss to England in 2012 "still hurts" his side.

New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen has revealed that his side are still suffering from their shock defeat to England last year.

The two nations meet again at Twickenham on Saturday, just under a year since the Red Rose earned a surprising 38-21 win over the world champion All Blacks in what remains Hansen's only loss in charge.

"It still hurts, we don't like losing," Hansen told reporters. "It was a tough old day, we didn't have enough energy to compete with the English on the day and they outplayed us. That's something we've had to hold onto for quite some time.

"They've clearly got a lot of confidence and believe in themselves. On the day [last year], they just played a game that we couldn't compete with.

"That's our challenge this week, to see if we can be good enough to get up to that level."

England have won both of their Autumn Internationals played in November, coming from behind to beat Australia 20-13 earlier this month before surging to a 31-12 victory over Argentina on Saturday.
