Brian Moore: 'Saracens have title advantage'

Brian Moore says that Saracens's big squad gives them the edge in the Aviva Premiership title race.

Former England hooker Brian Moore believes that Saracens's huge squad gives them the edge in the race for the Aviva Premiership title.

Sarries came from behind to beat London Wasps 22-13 at Adams Park on Saturday to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

However, Moore thinks that Leicester Tigers, who saw off East Midlands rivals Northampton Saints on the same day, also have a chance of winning the league.

"Saracens have been a model of consistency for much of this season and the depth of their squad gives their director of rugby Mark McCall tactical options that other clubs must envy," Moore wrote in The Telegraph.

"The attrition of previous seasons has been supplemented by a developing sense of ambition and the structure of their game is very good. The team that beats the boys from Barnet will end up champions; not that I would bet against them.

"Some of the Tigers' fans might back their side after seeing them demolish the Saints on Saturday. The 36-8 win in the East Midlands derby was impressive for the way they overcame Saints' forward power with an overtly physical challenge, augmented by a variety of attacking options out wide. A Saracens v Tigers final is on the cards and in their present form it would be a fascinating tussle."

Saracens are currently five points clear of second-placed Leicester.
