Experienced centre Jamie Roberts is likely to miss Wales's autumn internationals after undergoing ankle surgery.
The 26-year-old, who has been capped 53 times for his country, suffered the injury while playing for his new French employers Racing Metro a fortnight ago.
"The doctors seem to think I'll be out for a good few months," Roberts told reporters. "But I will be working on my rehab, trying my best to be fit for selection."
Six Nations champions Wales play South Africa, Argentina, Tonga and Australia in their Southern Hemisphere tour throughout November.
