USA swimmer Jessica Long has broken her own world record in the 400m freestyle S8 race on day one of the Can Am Para-Swimming Championships.
The 23-year-old finished the race at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in 4 minutes 40.4 seconds, which is just over a second better than the previous record that she set at the London 2012 Olympics.
"I'm beyond thrilled about the world record in the 400 free," insidethegames.biz quotes Long as saying.
"I haven't been able to beat my previous time for three years. It's reassuring knowing that all of my hard work is paying off. I can't stop smiling."
Long has 12 Paralympic gold medals to her name.
