Top seed Victoria Azarenka has ended Heather Watson's run in the Sony Ericsson Open with an emphatic straight-sets victory.
The Belarusian had looked likely to inflict a double bagel on the 19-year-old Briton, but Watson avoided such a fate by breaking serve in the fourth game of the second set.
A defeat of 0-6 2-6 represents a slender improvement for Watson, who claimed one more game than in her Australian Open first-round defeat to Azarenka in January.
Despite the heavy loss, the Miami tournament has been a great success for wildcard Watson, who came back from 5-0 behind in the deciding set to defeat Sorana Cirstea, before shocking world number 25 Lucie Safarova in round two.
Azarenka has now won 25 consecutive matches and will face Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova in the last 16.
