Lizzy Yarnold's mother has said that she is "proud" of the 25-year-old's achievements at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Yarnold won the gold medal in the women's skeleton event on Friday, getting the better of Noelle Pikus-Pace of the USA by a margin of 0.97 seconds.
"I am lost for words," Lizzy's mother Judith told BBC Sport. "I am so proud of her, ever since she was 11 she has been professional and focused in her training.
"We are hoping we get some time to spend with her before the ceremony on Saturday.
"We are all back at work on Monday, it has been a quick visit which has been well worth it."
Russia's Elena Nikitina finished third and won the bronze medal.
