Alessio Cerci has admitted that scoring his first goal for AC Milan at the weekend has given him a vital confidence boost heading into the closing stages of the season.
The forward's strike in Saturday's 2-1 win over Palermo was his first goal since moving to San Siro on loan from Atletico Madrid in January, and he believes that he can now start to prove his worth to the Milan supporters.
"A goal gives you confidence and self-belief, but is also positive for the team to bring in points, which is the main thing," the 27-year-old told Milan Channel.
"I've been feeling more like myself for two weeks now and have been working better in training. The goal has allowed me to take a step forward psychologically too.
"I know what I can do and how much I can give. I can feel my leg is in good shape again. That's important for a player like me whose strengths are dribbling and changes of pace. I am here to prove my work to the fans and everyone around Milan."
Milan will host Sampdoria at San Siro on Sunday night.
