Jeremy Menez struck a late winner as AC Milan claimed a 2-1 victory over Palermo in Serie A this afternoon.
Mattia Destro had an early chance to give the visitors the lead, but, after being picked out by Menez, he saw his strike palmed away by Stefano Sorrentino.
Palermo then wasted a huge opportunity of their own midway through the half as Paulo Dybala squared the ball across the box for Franco Vazquez, who then placed his effort wide from just a few yards out.
Milan almost made their opponents pay for that miss soon after, but Destro could only turn Alessio Cerci's cross over the bar.
The visitors did manage to take the lead in the 37th minute when Ignazio Abate's low cross was spilled by Sorrentino and Cerci was on hand to touch the ball in from close range.
Moments later, Edgar Barreto had the ball in the back of the net for Palermo, but he was adjudged to have been standing in an offside position and the visitors held onto the lead going into the break.
Early in the second half, Gabriel Paletta headed a corner wide after being found unmarked at the back post and Destro saw a strike ruled out for offside.
Palermo were then awarded a penalty when Paletta brought down Andrea Belotti inside the box and Dybala stepped up to slot the ball into the bottom corner, beyond the reach of Diego Lopez.
However, with seven minutes remaining, Milan claimed the points as Menez stole possession in midfield before racing through on goal and firing past Sorrentino.
