AC Milan took the three points home this evening as they beat Cagliari 3-1 in Serie A.
Cagliari started the match strongly, with Paul-Jose M'Poku and Marco Sau narrowly missing the target in the opening 10 minutes.
In the 14th minute, Mattia Destro's header was blocked after Keisuke Honda's cross as Milan responded well.
Milan took the lead in the 21st minute when Jeremy Menez directed his shot from Andrea Poli's assist across goal into the bottom-right corner.
Philippe Mexes then tried to double their lead two minutes later, but his shot was blocked.
Milan kept pushing for a goal before half time, with both Honda and Marco van Ginkel missing the target from range. Honda then had a chance after 44 minutes which was well saved by Zeljko Brkic.
Cagliari netted an equaliser just after the restart when Diego Farias's shot from inside the penalty area nestled into the back of the net.
Milan regained the lead within two minutes as Mexes directed the ball into the bottom-right corner from Menez's corner.
Van Ginkel had a shot blocked 15 minutes later as Milan pushed to extend their lead, which they doubled a minute later after Joao Pedro had hit the bar for Cagliari.
Alessio Cerci was fouled in the penalty area by Luca Ceppitelli, and Menez finished from the spot to score his second of the night.
