Sports Mole previews Tuesday's World Cup Qualifying - Africa clash between Angola and Libya, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Fresh off the back of an opening-day win, Libya continue their hunt for a first ever World Cup appearance when they take on Angola at the Estadio 11 de Novembro on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the home side will be looking to bounce back from a defeat on the road last time out and get their qualifying campaign up and running.

Match preview

Seven years on from their last meeting, Libya showed great resolve in their 2-1 victory over the Panthers of Gabon at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Wednesday.

Javier Clemente's men trailed to Andre Poko's 11th-minute strike, but parity was restored just before the half-hour mark by Ali Salama, before Sanad Al-Warfali completed the turnaround in the final minute of normal time.

The Mediterranean Knights ended a barren run of eight games without a victory since getting the better of Tanzania in a 2-1 win two years ago.

In that time, Tuesday's visitors have been beaten in each of their three outings away from home, the most recent of which was a 1-0 defeat in their final AFCON qualifying group where they finished bottom.

With back-to-back games in quick succession against the lowest ranked team by FIFA in Group F, Libya have an opportunity to put together a good a run of results.

Angola fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against the Pharaohs of Egypt at the 30 June Stadium when the sides faced off in Cairo on Wednesday.

Mohamed Magdy Afsha broke the deadlock with a well-taken spot kick in the fifth minute, and that proved to be the winner as both sides missed glorious chances to alter the score.

Pedro Goncalves's men, who are now winless in their last four outings away from home, have an opportunity to respond as they return to their own patch, where they overcame Gabon 2-0 in the last fixture.

Team News

Javier Clemente saw his forwards struggle in the last game with both of his side's two goals scored by defenders, and he could make some alterations to his attack for this one.

Mohamed Al Tubal's wait for a first international goal goes on after 20-odd matches, which could see him dropped to the bench for Mohamed Zubya.

Despite the defeat to Egypt, Pedro Goncalves saw his side give a good account of themselves, and we expect him to name an unchanged XI from last time out.

Jonathan Buatu is in line for his 20th national-team cap, and the 27-year-old has been a mainstay for Angola since making his debut in 2014.

Angola possible starting lineup:
Marques; Bastos, Buatu, F. Santos; Fortuna, Estrela, Balburdia, Va; Fredy, Bachi, Abreu

Libya possible starting lineup:
Nashnoush; Al-Warfali, Sabbou, Salama, Al Sharif; Al Touhami, Al Badri, Elhouni; Ellafi, Zubya, Zaabia

We say: Angola 1-1 Libya

Libya will be brimming with confidence coming into the fixture following their victory last time out, while the home side have some picking up to do. We predict that the sides will cancel each other out, giving rise to a share of the spoils at the full-time whistle.
