Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League One clash between Barnsley and Charlton Athletic, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Barnsley will attempt to claim a second straight victory when they welcome Charlton Athletic to Oakwell for Tuesday's League One contest.

The Tykes are currently sitting in eighth spot in the League One table, while the Addicks are one point behind in 12th position.

Match preview

Barnsley will be in a positive mood after they edged out Blackpool at Bloomfield Road to end a four-game winless run in all competitions.

Davis Keillor-Dunn saw his opener cancelled out by Blackpool's Oliver Casey, before Marc Roberts scored a stoppage-time winner to snatch all three points for the Tykes.

As a result of that win, Barnsley moved onto 18 points and up to eighth place with goal difference keeping them outside the top six.

The Tykes will now return to Oakwell where they have won just one of their five home league games this season (D3, L1), although they have avoided defeat in their last four outings at Oakwell.

Having conceded in each of their last nine home league games, Barnsley will enter the midweek fixture with hopes of recording their first home clean sheet in the third tier since playing out a goalless draw with Cheltenham Town in March.

Charlton may have started the league season with three consecutive victories, but they only managed to win two of their last seven matches in the third tier.

The most recent of those victories took place on October 5 when they edged out Birmingham City to end a run of three consecutive defeats.

They were unable to make it to back-to-back wins in Saturday's away clash, with Nathan Jones's side settling for a 1-1 draw in their home clash with Stockport County.

Substitute Rarmani Edmonds-Green scored a second-half equaliser to ensure that Charlton took a point from the contest, with the result leaving them two points adrift of the playoffs ahead of Tuesday's away trip.

While the Addicks have lost three of their last four away league games, they will travel to Oakwell with aspirations of claiming their first head-to-head away win since running out 6-0 winners in April 2013.

Team News

Barnsley midfielder Josh Benson will miss a second straight game after picking up a hamstring injury in the recent EFL Trophy clash with Huddersfield Town.

Adam Phillips made his return from injury to play over an hour against Blackpool, and he is likely to retain his place for Tuesday's league outing.

In fact, Barnsley boss Darrell Clarke could be tempted to stick with the same team that started the narrow win over Blackpool.

Charlton forward Daniel Kanu is likely to miss out after sitting out the draw with Stockport due to an ankle injury.

Gassan Ahadme has been absent for the last two matches and remains a doubt for Tuesday's fixture, while Kayne Ramsay will have to be assessed after he was forced off in the first half of Saturday's contest.

Having completed a one-match suspension, midfielder Conor Coventry is expected to return to the starting lineup.

Barnsley possible starting lineup:
Slonina; De Gevigney, Roberts, Earl; O'Keeffe, Phillips, Russell, Connell, Gent; Keillor-Dunn, Humphrys

Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Mannion; Edmonds-Green, Mitchell, Gillesphey; Docherty, Taylor, Coventry, Anderson, Edwards; T. Campbell, Godden

We say: Barnsley 1-1 Charlton Athletic

With the two teams separated by just one point, we expect Tuesday's clash to be a close-fought contest which could finish all square, especially as Barnsley have drawn three of their last four home league matches.
