Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez has insisted that he will play where coach Pep Guardiola needs him next season.
The Spaniard is primarily a central midfielder, but it has been suggested that the 24-year-old will be moved into defence to accommodate new signings.
"Guardiola is the coach and I will play wherever he decides to use me. We have not spoken about this yet, though, so I do not know what Pep has in mind," the Spaniard told TZ.
"For now, the most important thing for me is to reach the same fitness levels as the players who have been training a bit longer already. I intend to take things one step at a time."
Martinez made 43 appearances for Bayern last season.
