Blackburn Rovers interim boss Eric Black has hinted that he would like to take the role on a permanent basis, but downplayed his chances of landing it.
Black, who served as assistant to former manager Steve Kean for two years, admitted that there are other applicants who are "more illustrious" than him.
"I've always felt I could do a number one job. Opportunities haven't arisen for that to happen," he told BBC Sport.
"I was happy working as Steve Bruce's assistant for a long time [at Birmingham, Wigan and Sunderland] and the opportunity never arose. Perhaps this one has.
"There are quite a few applicants for this job who are more illustrious than I am. I know it's an exceptionally good job at a good club."
Blackburn Rovers drew 0-0 at Nottingham Forest in the Championship this evening and currently lie in fifth place in the league.
