Neither Burnley nor Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers were able to find the net during the opening 45 minutes at Turf Moor this afternoon.
Hosting Burnley had the better of the chances, but every time they got beyond the away defence, goalkeeper Paul Robinson was on hand to thwart any shots that came his way.
The first player to test Robinson was Ross Wallace, who saw his corner spilt by the former England keeper with 27 minutes gone. The rebound fell to Jason Shackell, but he was unable to keep his effort on target.
Robinson again denied Wallace from distance in the 34th minute, before being called into action just one minute later to deny leading goalscorer Charlie Austin's header from close range.
With the break approaching, Robinson was forced into one final save to deny Martin Paterson, who had struck a curling shot from inside the area.
