Both Chapecoense and Sport Recife have already been relegated from the Brasileiro still with two games to play, and the 20th-placed and 19th-placed sides meet on Tuesday in the penultimate round of fixtures this season.
Chapecoense have only managed one win in 36 games and are currently on a five-game losing run, while Tuesday's visitors are 19 points better off than the bottom side.
Match preview
The Santa Catarina-based side bounced straight back to the top flight after being relegated in 2019, but their tenure in the Brasileiro has lasted just as long this year with a really poor campaign.
Felipe Endres, who only took up the role as manager at the beginning of November, has not guided his side to victory as their only win of the season so far came on September 11 against Red Bull Bragantino.
Most recently, Chapecoense just missed out on a point against Atletico Goianiense, who struck in the 89th minute with their only shot on target in the game.
America de Natal currently hold the record for the fewest points earned in a Brasileiro season after 2003, as they gained just 17 points in 2007, meaning that Chapecoense need one win in their remaining two games to ensure they do not take over this unwanted record.
Sport Recife came closer to survival this year than Tuesday's hosts, with Gustavo Florentin's side nine points adrift of safety as things currently stand.
A few more victories would have been enough for Sport Recife, and one of those wins that they so desperately needed nearly came last time out but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against second-placed Flamengo.
That match was there to be won by Sport Recife, as they created a lot of chances and recorded nine shots on target, but ultimately their destiny was decided after that draw on Friday.
Their defensive stats are better than a lot of the teams around and above them in the table, but their form in front of goal this year has let them down, only netting 22 times which is the lowest in the division.
With both of these teams already heading to Serie B, Tuesday's result will come down to which team wants to end the season on a high for their own pride, but another goalless draw like the one that occurred the last time Chapecoense played Sport Recife could be likely.

Team News
Chapecoense's injury list is eight players long which has challenged the depth of their squad and not helped in their quest to survive in their first season back in the top flight.
Striker Anselmo is one of the many players who have missed the last few games due to injury, so Henrique Almeida has come into the side as a central attacker but is yet to find the back of the net this season.
Sport Recife also have many players unavailable due to injury including Everaldo, Joao Igor, Leandro Barcia, Neilton and Thiago but Florentin could still name the same starting 11 which earned a point against Flamengo.
Mikael is certain to lead the line for the visitors, with Everton and Gustavo providing the width from an attacking midfield three, which will also include Hernanes in a central role behind Mikael.
Goalkeeper Mailson has been an ever-present figure for Sport Recife, starting all 36 league games so far this season and he is looking for his 14th clean sheet of the campaign, one of the most in the division.
Chapecoense possible starting lineup:
Paulo; Busanello, Ignacio, Joilson, Ezequiel; Lima, Ribeiro, Ronei; Silva, Almeida, Mike
Sport Recife possible starting lineup:
Mailson; Sander, Sabinho, Thyere, Ewerton; Marcao, Welison; Everton, Hernanes, Gustavo; Mikael
We say: Chapecoense 0-1 Sport Recife
It will be difficult for both of these sides to find motivation in their final two games with their relegation already confirmed, which is why it could be a low-scoring affair on Tuesday.
Sport Recife will be able to use their good defensive record to keep another clean sheet this week, and Chapecoense's awful goals conceded stat suggests that the visitors will be able to get on the scoresheet.
