Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Monday night.
Sports Mole

Chelsea will return to action on Monday evening when they square off against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

After a three-game stretch in the space of a week, Mauricio Pochettino's side will have had a nine-day break by the time that they take to the pitch against the Magpies.

However, the Blues' injury issues have shown no signs of letting up ahead of this game as they prepare to try to earn a potentially-pivotal victory in the race for European qualification.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the meeting with Eddie Howe's side.

Ben Chilwell

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

On Thursday, Chelsea announced that Ben Chilwell was undergoing 'specialist medical treatment' on a knee injury. As it stands, it is unclear when the left-back will be able to return.

Levi Colwill

Status: Out
Type of injury: Toe
Possible return date: Unknown

While the toe issue sustained by Levi Colwill is not expected to keep him out long term, the defender has also been ruled out of Monday's game.

Conor Gallagher

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Virus
Possible return date: March 11 (vs. Newcastle)

Conor Gallagher has been suffering with a virus throughout this week and is yet to return to training. Pochettino suggested on Thursday that he was pessimistic over the midfielder's availability for this fixture.

Christopher Nkunku

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: March 30 (vs. Burnley)

Christopher Nkunku, who has been troubled with injuries throughout his debut campaign at Chelsea, has been ruled out for up to four weeks with a hamstring issue.

Carney Chukwuemeka

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 11 (vs. Newcastle)

Although Pochettino hinted on Thursday that none of his injured players would return to the squad against Newcastle, Carney Chukwuemeka has recently returned to training after an ankle injury.

Benoit Badiashile

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: March 17 (vs. Leicester City)

Benoit Badiashile is nursing a groin problem and has subsequently missed the last four matches, but the Frenchman could be in a position to return to action later this month.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Wesley Fofana is yet to make a single appearance for Chelsea this season due to a long-term knee injury and the defender is facing a race against time to return before the end of the campaign.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Reece James underwent hamstring surgery just before Christmas and it remains to be seen whether the Chelsea captain will recover before the end of the season.

Lesley Ugochukwu

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Lesley Ugochukwu sustained a hamstring injury in the loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Christmas Eve and there is currently no timescale on his potential return.

Romeo Lavia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Romeo Lavia, who has made just one substitute appearance since joining Chelsea last summer, is still recovering from a thigh injury that has kept him in the treatment room since the end of last year, and there is currently no timescale on his potential return.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no suspended players for this match.
