Chelsea's quest for EFL Cup glory continues on Wednesday with the first leg of their semi-final showdown against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel's side once again shared the spoils at home last time out, with Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic netting to recover a 2-2 draw versus Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Blues booked their place in the last four of this competition after overcoming Brentford 2-0 and now prepare for a swift reunion with former manager Antonio Conte.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the first leg.

Ben Chilwell has undergone successful surgery on his ACL injury, but Tuchel does not expect the left-back to play again this season.

Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Spurs)

Timo Werner is still struggling to recover from a bout of coronavirus and was not ready to return against Liverpool, but he has taken part in full training and could feature in some capacity here.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Reece James suffered a hamstring injury against Brighton & Hove Albion last month, and while the club have not put a timeframe on his recovery yet, he will not be available here.

Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen was another casualty of the draw with the Seagulls with back pain, and he is not expected to shake off the issue in time for Wednesday.

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Spurs)

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been dealing with injury and illness in recent weeks following a positive COVID-19 test, but there is a slim chance that he may be available for the first leg.

Type of injury: Disciplinary
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Spurs)

Romelu Lukaku was dropped from the squad to face Chelsea due to comments he made in a recent interview. The Belgian is set for talks with Tuchel on Monday to discuss the situation, and it remains to be seen if he will be recalled for the London derby.

Edouard Mendy

Edouard Mendy has now linked up with the Senegal team for the Africa Cup of Nations and will be unavailable to Chelsea while his country compete at the tournament.
