Jeff Larentowicz scored a late winner to give Chicago Fire a crucial 1-0 home victory over Columbus Crew
The visitors had an excellent chance to take the lead when Tyson Wahl's free kick caused problems in the area and Agustin Viana's shot was well saved by Sean Johnson, but as Glauber turned the ball in he was ruled offside. However, replays showed that the ball was already over the line.
Columbus continued their dominance and Dominic Oduro should have scored when he was put through in the penalty area, but he could only blast his right-footed shot wide of the post.
Just before the break, Chicago had their first real chance as the Sherjill Macdonald turned his man inside the area but he couldn't make good contact with the ball and the opportunity was spurned.
After half time, the Fire were denied the lead by a great save from Andy Gruenebaum as he somehow got a hand to Austin Berry's header and leapt on the loose ball before any Chicago player could react.
With seven minutes to go Chicago took the lead when Berry flicked on Jalil Anibaba's throw-in into the path of Jeff Larentowicz, who headed the ball low into the corne, to seal the win for his side.
