The Colorado Rapids recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chivas USA in their MLS clash.
The Rapids could have taken the lead in the second minute of the game when Dillon Serna curled an effort past Dan Kennedy, but his shot clattered off the post and went wide.
Colorado did take the lead in the 16th minute as a long-throw released Gabriel Torres, and from his attack the loose ball fell to Nick LaBrocca who smashed an effort into the top corner with his left foot.
The home side doubled their advantage when Drew Moor rose highest in the penalty area to head a Dillon Powers corner past Kennedy into the roof of the net.
After the break, the Rapids continued to dominate the game and were inches away from a third goal when Moor's header from a Powers free kick hit the underside of the bar, while Vicente Sanchez and Torres both failed to turn home the rebound.
Chivas could have found a way back into the game when a loose ball fell kindly to Marco Delgado at the back post, and, with only Clinton Irwin to beat, a poor touch let him down and allowed the keeper to force the ball out for a corner.
Delgado was punished for his missed opportunity as the Rapids sealed their win when Torres picked up the ball on the left and curled an effort over Kennedy with a precise finish.
