Seattle Sounders have earned a valuable point by holding D.C. United to a goalless draw at RFK Stadium.
United's Nick DeLeon looked the most likely player to make something happen.
The 21-year-old midfielder found Hamdi Salihi with a clever pass midway through the first half and the big Albanian struck the crossbar from 14 yards.
DeLeon almost caught Michael Gspurning off-guard with a rasping 35-yard drive moments later, but the Seattle stopper got down just in time to make a smart save.
Gspurning was again called upon after the break as DeLeon, this time from only 25-yards, pinged a superb effort that the Austrian goalkeeper tipped over.
Osvaldo Alonso almost stole victory for the visitors in stoppage time, but his right-footed effort dragged inches wide.
