How Peru could line up against Ecuador

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Peru could line up for Wednesday's Copa America clash with Ecuador.

Peru are expected to come into Wednesday's Copa America clash against Ecuador with an unchanged starting XI, after an impressive 2-1 win over Colombia in their last group game.

That should see Gianluca Lapadula lead the line, given Ricardo Gareca's decision to omit all-time top scorer Paolo Guerrero from the squad, instead prioritising the new crop of players.

He will be supported by the wide threat of Andre Carrillo and experienced winger Christian Cueva, who has hit 11 goals in 74 caps.

Rounding off the front line is Sergio Pena, who brings quality in the hole behind striker Lapadula, and he opened his account for the tournament with a goal against Colombia last time out.

Further back, Yoshimar Yotun and Renato Tapia will continue to sit in front of the back four, with Yotun coming in on the back of earning his 100th international cap last time out.

They were particularly impressive as Peru stayed on top against Colombia, and will continue to be crucial to this side throughout the tournament.

New York City centre-back Alexander Callens is expected to continue his partnership with Christian Ramos at the heart of the back four, shielding Orlando City goalkeeper Pedro Gallese between the sticks.

Peru possible starting lineup: Gallese; Corzo, Ramos, Callens, Lopez; Tapia, Yotun; Carrillo, Pena, Cueva; Lapadula
