Genoa have picked up their first points of the Serie A season with a comfortable 3-0 win over fierce local rivals Sampdoria.
The visitors took the lead after just nine minutes when Davide Biondini's drilled cross found Luca Antonini in the box, and the debutant made no mistake with his finish.
Lorenzo de Silvestri almost found an equaliser for hosts Sampdoria in the 26th minute when he cut inside from the left flank, but his shot from the edge of the box was comfortable for the keeper.
Genoa doubled their lead just five minutes into the second half when Alberto Gilardino and Sime Vrsaljko combined to create a chance for Emanuele Calaio, who hammered his shot home from close range.
The visitors then sealed the three points in style as Francesco Lodi curled a delightful free kick past Junior Costa in the Sampdoria goal.
The result lifts Genoa up to 14th in the Serie A table, while Sampdoria drop a place to 16th.
