Sports Mole previews Saturday's La Liga clash between Getafe and Real Betis, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Real Betis will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to six matches when they travel to Getafe in La Liga on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors have picked up 13 points from their opening nine matches of the campaign to sit in seventh position in the table, while Getafe are 11th on 10 points from their first nine games of 2023-24.

Match preview

Getafe played out a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo before the international break, with Mason Greenwood scoring his first goal for the capital side following his arrival on loan from Manchester United last month.

Jose Bordalas's side have actually shared the points in their last three matches, while their last victory proved to be a 3-2 success at home to Osasuna in the middle of September.

Getafe have won two, drawn four and lost three of their nine league games this term to collect 10 points, which has left them in 11th position, and they will be looking to improve on what has been a disappointing last three campaigns in terms of their final spot in the table.

The Deep Blue Ones have been 15th in each of their last three campaigns, but they were eighth, fifth and eighth between 2018 and 2020, so a top-half finish is certainly not beyond them.

Getafe recorded a 1-0 victory over Real Betis when the two teams last locked horns at the end of last season, but they suffered a 1-0 loss in the corresponding match in 2022-23.

Real Betis, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw by Alaves before the international break, with an own goal from Hector Bellerin cancelling out an opener from Ayoze Perez.

Manuel Pellegrini's side have won three, drawn four and lost two of their nine league matches to pick up 13 points, which has left them in seventh position, six points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, who have a game in hand on 18 of the other 19 teams in the league.

Real Betis are also competing in Europe this season, currently sitting bottom of their Europa League section on three points, but all four sides in Group C are on the same number of points after two matches.

The Green and Whites finished sixth in La Liga last term and will be targeting a similar spot this season, but they have found it difficult to really kick into gear in the opening two months of the campaign.

Indeed, since losing heavily at Barcelona in the middle of September, Real Betis have drawn three of their four La Liga matches, sharing the points with Cadiz, Granada and Alaves during that run.

Team News

Getafe will be without the services of Domingos Duarte through suspension, with the centre-back sent off against Celta last time out, which should open the door for Omar Alderete to start.

Djene Dakonam is also banned due to his booking in the team's last game, while Juan Iglesias, Luis Milla and Enes Unal will be unavailable for selection through injury.

Mauro Arambarri is set to be introduced into the midfield on Saturday, but there are unlikely to be any changes further forward, with Greenwood set to feature alongside Borja Mayoral in the final third of the field.

Real Betis will also be missing two players through suspension, with Willian Jose and Guido Rodriguez unavailable for selection this weekend.

The Seville-based outfit have injury problems, meanwhile, with Marc Bartra, Luiz Henrique, Youssouf Sabaly and Nabil Fekir out of the contest with Getafe.

Rodriguez's absence in the middle of the midfield will open the door for William Carvalho to feature from the first whistle, but it might otherwise be the same XI that started against Alaves, with in-demand youngster Assane Diao set to continue in an attacking area.

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Suarez, Alderete, Alvarez, Rico; Alena, Arambarri, Maksimovic, Mata; Greenwood, Mayoral

Real Betis possible starting lineup:
Bravo; Bellerin, Pezzella, Riad, Abner; Carvalho, Roca; Diao, Isco, Rodri; Perez

We say: Getafe 1-1 Real Betis

Real Betis are finding it difficult to win at the moment, sharing the points in three of their last four in the league, and we can see another stalemate here. Getafe have drawn their last three in Spain's top flight, and the two teams could be forced to settle for a share of the spoils on Saturday afternoon.
