Hull City assistant boss Mike Phelan has admitted that he was delighted with the club's battling 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers ended a three-game winless run in the Championship as Chuba Akpom's first-half strike was enough to fire them to the three points against Neil Lennon's men in a match low on quality.
Phelan told BBC Sport: "Games are a bit of a slog sometimes in the Championship but we're glad we've come through it and got three points.
"The idea is to have a great performance and get three points. They made it more difficult without creating a lot of chances apart from they have hit the post."
Hull rose to third in the standings with their victory on Saturday afternoon.
