Juventus have confirmed that Claudio Marchisio will miss the start of the season after suffering ligament damage in Sunday's Supercoppa Italia victory.
The 27-year-old had to be withdrawn after 21 minutes following a challenge with Lazio defender Stefan Radu, and scans at Turin's Fornaca Clinic later revealed a tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
According to a statement on Juventus.com, Marchisio is expected to be missing for "30 and 35 days" - ruling the vice-captain out of games against Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter Milan and the Bianconeri's opening Champions League match.
It also means that he will miss Italy's World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and the Czech Republic.
