Sports Mole previews Monday's Championship clash between Leeds United and Hull City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Leeds United play host to Hull City on Easter Monday looking for the win that they may require to remain in the automatic promotion places in the Championship table.

While Leeds sit one point adrift of leaders Ipswich Town, Hull are at risk of dropping out of contention for the playoffs after five games without a victory.

Match preview

Having watched Leicester City lose earlier on Good Friday, Leeds would have been bitterly disappointed to only post a 2-2 draw at Watford.

Nevertheless, some perspective is required, with the Yorkshire giants twice coming from behind to earn a share of the spoils at Vicarage Road, with their second equaliser from Mateo Joseph arriving in the 85th minute.

With Leicester still holding a game in hand, the destination of the title remains in the Foxes' hands, but Leeds boss Daniel Farke will expect his team to lift the trophy.

As many as 14 league matches have passed by since Leeds suffered defeat in the Championship, with the draw at Watford just their second of that run.

Furthermore, Leeds still have four matches remaining at Elland Road having put together a 19-game unbeaten streak in the second tier at their home ground since the start of the season.

Hull have seemed on track for a top-six spot in recent months, helped by a seven-match unbeaten streak being put together before the international break.

However, the flip side to that is their four matches before the home encounter with Stoke City on Friday all ending in draws, seeing them drop out of the playoffs.

A meeting with the Potters at the MKM Stadium appeared to be the ideal fixture to get back on track, yet the Tigers failed to take their chances and ultimately succumbed to a 2-0 defeat.

Although Liam Rosenior's side still possess a game in hand, there is now a six-point gap to sixth position, highlighting that they can ill-afford a further defeat here.

Team News

Farke is likely to drop Ethan Ampadu back into defence to take the spot of Liam Cooper, with the hope being that Ilia Gruev could return after injury.

If that is not the case, Archie Gray could switch into the centre of the pitch with Connor Roberts potentially taking his spot at right-back.

Jaidon Anthony and Joel Piroe are on standby to freshen up the attack, with Joseph expected to remain on the substitutes' bench, but Wilfried Gnonto remains a doubt.

Rosenior will tinker with his Hull side for this contest, with Tyler Morton one of several players in contention for a recall.

The fitness of Aaron Connolly will be assessed after he made his return against Stoke, as Ozan Tufan and Abdulkadir Omur also remain on standby for an appearance from the start.

Leeds United possible starting lineup:
Meslier; Gray, Rodon, Ampadu, Firpo; Kamara, Gruev; Anthony, Rutter, Summerville; Bamford

Hull City possible starting lineup:
Allsop; Coyle, Jones, McLoughlin, Giles; Morton, Seri; Philogene, Carvalho, Zaroury; Tufan

We say: Leeds United 2-0 Hull City

At some point, this Hull side may click back into gear given the quality that they have in the final third. However, this is the worst possible game for them at this stage, and we do not see them challenging a relentless Leeds side at Elland Road.
