A late goal from Billy Sharp has given Leeds United a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in their Championship match at Elland Road this afternoon.
Leeds came close to opening the scoring inside the opening two minutes when Nicky Ajose fired in a low shot, but his finish was cleared off the line.
Albert Adomah thought that he had given Middlesbrough the lead when he found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out because of a foul in the build up.
Adomah had another effort shortly before the break, but a last-gasp block from Stephen Warnock ensured that the sides remained level at half time.
After a quiet start to the second half, Kike came close to opening the scoring for Boro when he collected the ball in a dangerous position, but a poor first touch allowed Leeds to clear.
Sharp had a chance for United with just over 10 minutes to play, but the newly-signed striker could only head wide after visiting keeper Tomas Mejias missed the punch.
However, the former Southampton forward made sure that he got a goal on his first appearance for the club with just three minutes to play, pouncing on a rebound from a couple of yards out to earn Leeds victory.
