A last-gasp goal from Brett Pitman earns Ipswich Town a 2-1 win over Leeds United at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town have overturned an early deficit to secure a 2-1 win over Leeds United, with Brett Pitman netting in added-on time to help the Tractors Boys into fifth place in the Championship.

It took Leeds just 12 seconds to take the lead at Portman Road, with Souleymane Doukara dispossessing an Ipswich player before applying the finish into the bottom corner of the net for the fastest goal in the Football League this season.

Ipswich almost netted an immediate equaliser through Daryl Murphy, who was denied by Marco Silvestri, before Freddie Sears saw a long-range strike punched clear by the Italian.

Kevin Bru was the next player to test Silvestri, but his low drive was comfortably saved, while just before the half-hour mark, the Leeds goalkeeper was in the action again to save from Murphy.

Ryan Fraser almost netted an equaliser for Ipswich before the break, but again, Silvestri kept his side in front by tipping the ball over the crossbar.

Five minutes into the second half, Ipswich got the goal that their play deserved as Luke Chambers met a cross to head past a helpless Silvestri.

The home side continued to push forward and Cole Skuse went agonisingly close when curling the ball inches past the post from the edge of the area.

Leeds were hanging on as Chambers and Murphy both went close in quick succession, before the Irishman's header was too close to Silvestri.

It appeared as though Leeds would return to Yorkshire with a point, but two points into added-on time, Pitman headed home a Fraser delivery to send his team above Brighton & Hove Albion in the table.
