How Manchester City could line up against West Ham United

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's EFL Cup fourth-round clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is expected to ring the changes when his side take on West Ham United in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday.

The winners of the competition in each of the last four seasons will travel to London Stadium without Ferran Torres, who will not feature again this year after sustaining a metatarsal injury.

Man City could also be without Raheem Sterling, who missed Saturday's 4-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion due to lower back pain and remains a doubt.

Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez were rested from the start at the Amex before both came on for short cameos, suggesting that both could be included in the XI in midweek.

There will still likely be opportunities for youngsters such as Cole Palmer and Conrad Egan-Riley, though, while a number of fringe players will also be hopeful of game time amid the rotation.

Zack Steffen should replace Ederson in goal, while there could be rare outings for defensive trio John Stones, Nathan Ake and Oleksandr Zinchenko, despite Guardiola naming an inexperienced and unfamiliar back four of Egan-Riley, Finley Burns, Luke Mbete-Tabu and Josh Wilson-Esbrand in the last round.

Liam Delap will play no part as he continues to struggle with an ankle injury, and the academy's biggest recent success story Phil Foden is expected to be rested too, despite registering three goals and six assists in his last seven EFL Cup starts.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Steffen; Egan-Riley, Stones, Ake, Zinchenko; De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Palmer; Mahrez, Jesus, Grealish body check tags ::
