Sports Mole looks at Casemiro's record against Barcelona ahead of Manchester United's trip to Camp Nou in the Europa League.

Casemiro is a certainty to be in the Manchester United side that takes to the field for the first whistle against Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Brazil international is currently serving a Premier League suspension, but he is available in the Europa League, with the midfielder travelling to Spain with his teammates on Wednesday.

Man United will head to Camp Nou for the first leg of their Europa League knockout round playoff, before the two teams lock horns for the reverse match at Old Trafford next week.

Casemiro has plenty of experience when it comes to facing Barcelona following his time at Real Madrid, and with that in mind, Sports Mole looks at how the 30-year-old has fared against the Catalan giants.

The experienced midfielder has taken on Barcelona on more occasions than any other club during his professional career, tackling the La Liga giants 19 times in all competitions.

All of his appearances against Barcelona came during his time at Real Madrid, but none of them took place in Europe, with the fixtures spread across La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.

Casemiro boasts a record of nine wins, four draws and six defeats against the Catalan side, finding the back of the net on one occasion, which came at Bernabeu in a 3-2 Los Blancos loss in 2017.

In La Liga, the Brazilian has a record of five wins, three draws and five defeats from 13 games against Barcelona, with three of those victories coming at Camp Nou, including last season, playing the full 90 minutes of Real Madrid's 2-1 success away from home.

Casemiro has also faced Barcelona on three occasions in the Copa del Rey, boasting a record of one win, one draw and one defeat.

The experienced midfielder was a late substitute in Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the 2013-14 final, while he featured in both legs of their semi-final in 2018-19, including Real Madrid's 3-0 home defeat.

Casemiro enjoyed a lot of success against the Catalan side in the Spanish Super Cup, recording three wins, from three, including both legs of the final in 2017-18, with Los Blancos running out 5-1 winners on aggregate.

As mentioned, the Brazilian only has one career goal to his name against Barcelona, but he has scored four times for the Red Devils this season, in addition to registering five assists, having been given licence to break forward for his new club in 2022-23. body check tags ::
