Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Antonio Valencia will play no part in Manchester United's League Cup encounter against Middlesbrough this evening.
The Ecuadorian limped off late on during Sunday's Manchester derby with a foot injury.
Asked if the 30-year-old would be fit in time for Boro's trip to Old Trafford, Van Gaal told MUTV: "Of course Valencia is injured, that we could all see."
Van Gaal is expected to make a number of alterations to his starting lineup for the visit of the Championship club, which could see youngsters James Wilson and Andreas Pereira given opportunities from the beginning.
