Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray believes that Marvin Emnes is over his barren spell and ready to continue his recent goalscoring spurt.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has hailed Marvin Emnes after he scored twice in their 3-1 win over Barnsley.

Prior to Boro's 2-1 defeat of Nottingham Forest last week, the Dutch forward had gone 12 Championship games without scoring.

However, after seeing his top-scorer reach the ten-goal mark in the league, Mowbray believes that the player is now over his difficult spell and returning to his best.

Mowbray said: "He's been through a bit of a barren spell and lost his confidence but now he's back.

"We are delighted he's back among the goals, we need him among the goals."

The Saltburn-born boss was also delighted with the rest of his players, after they battled to earn three crucial points.

He added: "Ultimately we are pleased with the points.

"It's not easy to come here, you always know you are going to get a game but we showed our quality and should have punished Millwall more, we had some amazing chances.

"But we saw two sides of the Middlesbrough team, the quality we possess but also the fighting spirit and the ability to dig in."

The win moved Middlesbrough above Blackpool in the play-off positions in the Championship table.
