New England Revolution failed to take advantage of their extra man as they limped to a 0-0 draw at home to Montreal Impact in the MLS.
The home side could have broken the deadlock in the first minute when midfielder Lee Nguyen found striker Diego Fagundez in the box, but his low shot was tipped away by the goalkeeper.
Montreal offered little going forward until the 16th minute when Maxim Tissot's volley shaved the crossbar, but that was the closest that either side came to scoring in a tedious first half.
After the break, the visitors were reduced to 10 men as French defender Hassoun Camara was given his marching orders for a second yellow card, after he pulled down Juan Agudelo.
New England then pushed harder for a goal, but Agudelo, Eric Alexander and Nguyen wasted good opportunities as they could not convert their pressure into goals.
