Bolton Wanderers produced a dominant first-half display against Sheffield Wednesday to head into the break with a 3-1 lead.
The visitors broke the deadlock with eight minutes on the clock when Jermaine Beckford's cross was rifled home from close range by Neil Danns.
Lee Chung-Yong doubled the Trotters' advantage in the 19th minute, beating Owls goalkeeper Chris Kirkland with a right-footed effort from outside the box to put the away side in control.
Wednesday were under the cosh for much of the first period, but it got worse for them around the half-hour mark as Liam Trotter found the top corner from outside the box to make it 3-0.
Joe Mattock did manage to pull one back before the referee brought the first half to a close, but the Owls have it all to do in the second period.
