Martin Paterson's 10th-minute strike has given Huddersfield Town a 1-0 half-time lead away at Sheffield Wednesday.
Adam Clayton - one of six changes made by Mark Robins - played a reverse pass into the path of Martin Paterson, who took a touch out of his feet before bending a shot inside the far post to net his first goal for Huddersfield, with Sheffield Wednesday appealing loudly for an offside decision.
The home side looked to strike back immediately, but Clayton hacked down Jose Semedo as the Portuguese midfielder broke and earned a booking in the process.
Semedo then flashed a volley well wide of the post, as neither side managed to forge out any clear-cut chances.
Miguel Llera and James Vaughan have been embroiled in a fierce battle in the opening 45 minutes, and both players have entered the book for fouls on one another.
