Tottenham Hotspur have a 2-0 half-time lead over Inter Milan at White Hart Lane in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 encounter.
The hosts took the lead with five minutes on the clock as Gareth Bale evaded Esteban Cambiasso to head in Gylfi Sigurdsson's cross.
However, the Welsh winger was booked for diving on 14 minutes when he went down in the penalty area - a punishment that will see him miss the second leg of the contest in Italy.
Spurs continued to pour forward in attack and they doubled their advantage in the 18th minute through Sigurdsson when he converted the rebound after Jermain Defoe's initial effort had been saved.
Inter had a chance to reduce the deficit in the final minutes of the half, but Ricardo Alvarez dragged his shot wide with just Brad Friedel to beat.
