Mark Hughes has claimed that Ryan Shawcross can do no more to force his way back into the England squad.
Shawcross won his only cap in November 2012, but he has been linked with a return to international football after England manager Roy Hodgson watched the Potters captain impress in last weekend's 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
"Thankfully Roy came to the game and he would have once again seen a good performance from Ryan," Hughes told reporters.
"He's seen Ryan in real time, so to speak, so that will help his cause. In a high-profile game he acquitted himself really well and can't do anymore.
"He's an accomplished Premier League player who's played well for a long time and is an option who won't let anyone down."
Shawcross revealed earlier this week that he is not expecting to be recalled by Hodgson.
