Stoke City assistant manager Mark Bowen has confirmed that Xherdan Shaqiri will play no part in Tuesday's Capital One Cup tie against Luton Town.
The Switzerland international, who signed for the Potters for a club-record £12m fee earlier this month, made his debut for the Potters in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Norwich City.
Ahead of tomorrow's tie, Bowen has claimed that Shaqiri is not quite fit enough to play.
"He started incredibly brightly, but he will be the first to admit that he became a little bit jaded as the game wore on," Bowen told reporters.
"It was the first time he has done 90 minutes for three/four months. He was very stiff yesterday and won't be involved tomorrow."
Stoke are yet to win a Premier League game this season after recording two draws and a defeat.
