Steven N'Zonzi has admitted that it was the right time for him to leave Stoke City in order to face a new "test" at Sevilla.
The 26-year-old signed for the Spanish club in a £7m deal on Thursday following a three-year spell at the Britannia.
N'Zonzi has claimed that the option of European football convinced him to join Sevilla and put pen to paper on a four-year deal.
"I always want to play better and last season was definitely my best," N'Zonzi told The Sentinel. "Now I need to test myself in the Champions League and unfortunately I can't do that with Stoke.
"For me it was the right decision and hopefully now I will enjoy it just as much here in Seville."
The Frenchman spent six years playing in England overall due to stints at Blackburn Rovers and Stoke.
