Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Serie A clash between Torino and Brescia, including team news and predicted lineups.

Two sides in danger of relegation from Serie A will lock horns on Wednesday evening as Torino welcome Brescia to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Torino have slipped down to 16th in the table following a three-game losing streak, while Brescia lifted themselves from the bottom of the table with victory over Hellas Verona at the weekend.

Match preview

Torino slumped further down the table at the weekend as they were comfortably swept aside 4-1 by current champions Juventus.

Andrea Belotti gave Torino a glimmer of hope when his penalty halved the 2-0 deficit just before half-time, but Juve added another two goals in the second period to condemn Torino to their third defeat in a row.

Il Toro have endured a dismal run of form since the turn of the year and can only boast one win from their last 11 in the Italian top flight, and Torino are only six points clear of the bottom three with eight games remaining as they lie 16th on 31 points.

Moreno Longo's side ought to be confident of getting a vital three points on the board against Brescia, though, especially with an away fixture against Inter Milan to contend with next week.

Should Sampdoria and Udinese both suffer defeat in the midweek round of fixtures, Torino would jump two places into 14th with victory over their relegation rivals on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Brescia finally managed to record their first win of 2020 at the weekend as they enjoyed a 2-0 triumph over top-six hopefuls Hellas Verona on home soil.

I Biancazzurri's winless streak stretched all the way back to December before the clash with Hellas Verona - a barren run of 14 games without victory in the Italian top flight, before goals from Andrea Papetti and Alfredo Donnarumma saw off Hellas and lifted Brescia above SPAL into 19th.

Diego Lopez's men are still very much in a relegation dogfight as they lie six points from safety at this late stage of the campaign, although Brescia have now suffered just one defeat in four since Serie A returned to action.

That defeat was a humbling 6-0 crushing against Inter Milan, but Lopez's men responded to that drubbing in perfect fashion against Hellas Verona before they face challenging fixtures against Roma and Atalanta after their midweek clash with Torino.

Three of Brescia's five league victories this season have actually come on the road, but Torino revelled in a comfortable 4-0 win against their midweek opponents in the reverse fixture.

Team News

Torino's only injury concern is Daniele Baselli, who remains out for the season with a knee sprain.

Centre-back Armando Izzo is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the defeat to Juventus, with Nicolas Nkoulou likely to be drafted into the side.

Tomas Rincon could also come back into the starting XI after only making the bench against Juventus, and Cristian Ansaldi is in contention feature from the first whistle.

Following Brescia's first victory in 14 matches last time out, Lopez could feel reluctant to shuffle the pack too much for their crunch match with Torino.

Jhon Chancellor, Andrea Cistana and Dimitri Bisoli are all on the treatment table for the visitors.

Torino possible starting lineup:
Sirigu; Nkoulou, Bremer, Lyanco; De Silvestri, Meite, Rincon, Ansaldi; Berenguer, Verdi; Belotti

Brescia possible starting lineup:
Joronen; Sabelli, Papetti, Mateju, Martella; Dessena, Tonali, Bjarnason; Spalek; Donnarumma, Torregrossa

We say: Torino 2-1 Brescia

With both clubs' Serie A futures at stake heading into the final few weeks of the season, Wednesday's clash has all the makings of a fascinating match-up. Brescia were terrific value for their victory against high-flying Hellas Verona, but Torino will be equally desperate for three points and we are backing a narrow home victory in this relegation scrap.
