Sports Mole provides regular transfer news and speculation as it emerges throughout the day.

Welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog on Tuesday, January 6.

The winter window is just six days old, and while clubs are busy working on sealing new arrivals, there is plenty of time for business to be concluded.

Rest assured, as the day progresses we will keep you updated with all the speculation and any done deals as they happen.

Good morning everyone! So, what will football's mid-season transfer window bring us today? Rumours continue to do the rounds, but there has not been too many done deals to speak of. However, with 27 days to go before the window slams shut, there is plenty of time for new faces to join your club.
The Premier League heavyweights are yet to strike in this window, but there have been some outgoings. Yesterday, Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski sealed a move to Serie A side Inter Milan on loan until the end of the season. The German has struggled for game time at the Emirates and says that he is determined to become a "legend" at Inter.

Overnight, the gossip pages were filled with rumours, including questions over Wilfried Bony's Swansea City future, whether Southampton have a chance of signing Dutch defender Bruno Martins Indi and Tottenham Hotspur's possible interest in Aston Villa's Fabian Delph. To catch up with the stories, check out our 8am Transfer Talk Roundup.
Yesterday, Hatem Ben Arfa joined Ligue 1 club Nice after Newcastle United terminated his contract. The Frenchman, whose commitment was questioned at St James' Park, has been speaking about the move and admits that he would have rejected Spanish giants Real Madrid to join Nice. Really?
Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder has been linked with a move to the Premier League this month, but Juventus recently appeared to emerge as frontrunners to seal his signature. The Dutchman has been a long-standing target for Manchester United, if rumours are to be believed, and reports in Italy have claimed that Louis van Gaal is prepared to rival Juventus for Sneijder this month.

That's all from me, so I shall pass you over to my colleague Steven Toplis, who will update you with all the transfer news as it happens over the next three hours. Enjoy!
Thanks Danielle! Real Sociedad manager David Moyes says that he intends to use the British transfer market as he looks to strengthen his squad. The former Everton and Manchester United boss hopes that he can entice one or two players out to the continent.
Republic of Ireland international Keith Andrews has fallen out of favour at Bolton Wanderers, which has led to speculation that he will leave the club this January. The midfielder has revealed his desire to secure a loan move away from the Macron Stadium.
Could Liverpool's search for a new goalkeeper be coming to an end? The agent of Fiorentina stopper Neto, who is thought to be a target of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, has said that his client will agree terms with a new club soon.
Burnley could be closing in on a permanent deal for Michael Keane. The England Under-21 international is currently on loan to the Turf Moor side from Manchester United, and Clarets boss Sean Dyche says that the two clubs are talking about a long-term switch for the defender.
Some news from Arsenal now. Swedish midfielder Kristoffer Olsson has left the North London side on a permanent basis, signing a permanent contract with FC Midtjylland. The 19-year-old had been on loan to the Danish club since September.
Kris Commons's future with Celtic has come under scrutiny, with the midfielder yet to sign a new contract at Celtic Park. However, manager Ronny Deila has said that talks are continuing over fresh terms for the Scotland international.
Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has been linked with a host of clubs since Arsene Wenger said that he would be willing to loan the Frenchman out to a Premier League side. However, Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has claimed that Sanogo has asked to join the Ligue 1 outfit.

That's all from me for today, but I will leave you in the hands of Jack Prescott, who will take you through the latest transfer gossip over the next few hours.
Hello there! A bit of news from the bottom of League Two now as Nicky Featherstone pens a new deal with Hartlepool United. The club currently sits at the bottom of the table, 10 points adrift of safety.
Valencia are reportedly preparing a January move for River Plate midfielder Matias Kranevitter. The 21-year-old is widely regarded as one of the brightest talents in Argentina, with his form said to be drawing a host of interest.
BREAKING NEWS! Queens Park Rangers have bolstered their squad today by announcing the signing of West Ham United forward Mauro Zarate on a six-month loan deal. You can read more about that breaking story here.

Schalke 04 chairman Clemens Tonnies has insisted that the club will not sell Julian Draxler during the January transfer window. The Germany international midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal all thought to be keen on his services.
Manchester United are reportedly preparing a £16m move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. The German international has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford for the last couple of seasons, but a long-term injury cooled talk of a move.
Arsenal are understood to be considering a January move for Lorient defender Raphael Guerreiro. The 21-year-old, who has been with Lorient since 2013, is widely regarded as one of the best youngsters in Ligue 1.
That's all from me for today, but Liam Apicella will now be with you for the next three hours to keep you up to date with all of the latest news and gossip from around the clubs. Enjoy!
DONE DEAL! Thanks Jack and afternoon all. Let's start with a deal in the Championship that has seen young Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Nick Pope move to Bury on loan. More here.
So, is Cristiano Ronaldo ever going to pull on a Manchester United shirt again? Sorry United fans, but, according to Angel di Maria, that is not going to happen. Find out why the Argentine winger thinks that here.

Some potentially big news for Newcastle United supporters now. If reports in France are to be believed, Moussa Sissoko is very close to joining Paris Saint-Germain. It has been suggested that Yohan Cabaye could move back to Tyneside as a part of the deal, but that has not been confirmed. Would that be a good deal? One thing is for sure, Sissoko has been in top form this season and will be a big miss for the Magpies.
Well, it seems that Jermain Defoe is trying hard to find himself a Premier League club. Here's what's he just posted on Twitter:

From the Premier League to League Two and Northampton Town, who have confirmed that they have terminated the contract of experienced defender Kelvin Langmead by mutual consent.
BONY ON THE MOVE? It's being widely reported this afternoon that Manchester City are close to completing the signing of Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony for an eye-watering £30m. More here.
And more big news from the Premier League. It has been reported in the last few minutes that departing Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is on the verge of agreeing an 18-month contract with MLS side LA Galaxy. That would make it two ex-England skippers to have played for the Galaxy.
Staying in England's top flight, Andy Johnson is on the move. The veteran striker has ended his second spell with Crystal Palace and is now on the lookout for another club.
And that is as far as I take you today. Coming up now to take through to 7pm is Matt Law. Over to you, Matt.
Thanks Liam! Matt Law here and I shall be with you for the next couple of hours. Will Bony to Man City take place this evening?! Stay tuned!
DONE DEAL! Former Celtic striker Tony Watt has joined Charlton Athletic on a three-and-a-half-year contract. The 21-year-old moves to the Championship club following a brief spell with Belgian side Standard Liege.
More on Schwarzer to Leicester can be found here.
Now this one is very interested indeed. Queens Park Rangers are reportedly preparing a stunning swoop for Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato. Remember him? Well his Corinthians deal comes to an end this summer. Could Harry make a move? That would be some story!
DEPARTURE! Long-serving Millwall centre-back Paul Robinson has been released by the London club. The 32-year-old departs having made 362 first-team appearances.
DONE DEAL! Former Wigan Athletic midfielder Roger Espinoza has returned to MLS side Sporting Kansas City.
Derby County have cancelled the loan spell of Blackburn Rovers forward Leon Best. The experienced striker joined the Rams on loan at the start of the season, but has failed to start a single league game.

Apparently, Lionel Messi is unhappy at Barcelona and apparently, he keeps following Chelsea players on social media. Is there a chance of a move to Stamford Bridge? Not for me. Financially, it would take some offer from Chelsea, while I suspect that Barcelona are not in the market to lose the Argentine. That said, there is no smoke without fire.
Where are all the Manchester United transfer rumours by the way?! It has been very quiet on that front thus far! Will any new centre-backs arrive at Old Trafford this month? Louis van Gaal looks here as if he might have something up his sleeve...

Want all of the latest done deals and speculation in one handy article? Of course you do! Check out our 7pm Transfer Talk article here.
Right, that is just about it from me this evening. However, be sure to remain with us as Barney Corkhill takes control. Despite his funny name, I can assure you are in safe hands...
Thanks Matt (I think)! There has been plenty of activity throughout the day, with Wilfried Bony dominating the headlines due to his talks with Manchester City. We are expecting more still this evening, so stick around to keep bang up to date with any developments!
The biggest transfer story of the window so far has been Steven Gerrard's decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season following a glittering career on Merseyside. The skipper has now revealed that he had offers from all over the world, including top European clubs and Premier League sides, but did not want to risk playing against Liverpool in the future.
Sticking with Liverpool, they are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with Bayern Munich player Xherdan Shaqiri recently. However, according to reports, they are willing risk missing out on the winger by waiting until the summer to bid for him. Juventus, Wolfsburg and Inter Milan are among the other teams that have been linked with the Swiss international.
From one Champions League hopeful to another, and Arsenal have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Polish teenager Krystian Bielik. It is understood that Legia Warsaw have rejected a second bid for the 17-year-old midfielder, who is highly thought of by Arsene Wenger.
More bad news for Liverpool fans, I'm afraid. Steven Gerrard has also revealed this evening that he would have signed a new contract if it had been offered to him in the summer. However, the fact that his playing time would have been increasingly limited impacted on his decision by the time the deal was eventually proposed. More on that story here.
It is not strictly transfer news, but it could mean that West Ham do not have to dip into the market for a midfielder in January now. The Hammers have been given a big boost by Alex Song's decision to retire from international football, ruling him out of the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins later this month.

Alan Pardew hasn't been at Crystal Palace long, but he has already identified Liverpool's Rickie Lambert as a potential transfer target in January, according to reports. Liverpool have striking problems of their own at the moment, though, which could complicate proceedings for the Eagles.
Right, that is just about all from me tonight! I will leave you with Shane Callaghan for the final few hours of today's transfer rumours and deals...
Cheers Barney. Good evening ladies and gents and we'll start with the news that Stoke confirm they have joined Inter Milan and Liverpool in the race to sign Xherdan Shaqiri! More on that revelation here.
AFC Wimbledon striker and Liverpool fan Adebayo Akinfenwa reveals that he begged Steven Gerrard to postpone his summer departure from Anfield. Akinfenwa looks like a man who usually gets what he wants, so there may be hope yet for you Liverpool fans hoping to retain the heroic midfielder beyond the summer. Would you say no to this? Me neither.
Little more on Wesley Sneijder now and Juventus warn Galatasaray that they have no intention of coughing up the £15m necessary to sign the Dutchman, who has also courted interest from Manchester United and former club Inter Milan. More on this here.
Bad news for Arsenal fans as manager Arsene Wenger is knocked back in his bid to prise 17-year-old Legia Warsaw starlet Krystian Bielik away. Click here for more on that.
Spurs must stump up both Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend if they want to sign West Bromwich Albion hotshot Saido Berahino, according to reports. More on this in here!
Right, that's all we've got for you tonight ladies and gents, but there's no rest for the wicked as we'll be back at 7 am with more transfer-related buzz. See you then.
Cheers Christopher. Good evening ladies and gents. Let's kick things off with the news that Newcastle are reportedly plotting a winter move for a former Magpies' fan favourite in Shola Ameobi! He left St James's Park in the summer after 14 years of service, but if caretaker boss John Carver gets his way we might be seeing more of the 33-year-old in a black and white shirt. More on this here.
