Brentford have picked up their first victory of pre-season courtesy of a 1-0 triumph over VfL Bochum in Germany this evening.
The Bees, who fell to a slender defeat to Boreham Wood in their opening fixture of the summer last week, had striker Scott Hogan to thank for the win.
Hogan's close-range finish 36 minutes in proved to be the only goal of the game, coming after some good work from Maxime Colin to pull the ball back for his teammate.
Dan Bentley had earlier pulled off a superb stop on his Brentford debut to help former Arsenal man Thomas Eisfeld's shot onto the crossbar in the opening stages.
Bochum thought that they had levelled up when Kevin Stoger nodded home shortly before half time, only for the linesman's flag to go up for offside.
Anthony Losilla was also to be denied, this time from a block on the line, while Nils Quaschner saw his shot helped behind late in the second half.
Brentford could well have added a second themselves against the German second-division side, but Lasse Vibe could not capitalise on a decent chance shortly after being introduced 15 minutes from time.
